Poker Through the Eyes of an Amateur

Does It Never End?

I will spare you the details (more for the fact that it would probably take me two days to write it all, but also for your mental health), but suffice it to say this is the worst swing of variance that I have ever experienced. Honestly, how many two and three outer bad beats can one person suffer in the course of a week? So far, I think I'm at 50.

I am not exaggerating.

  • I hate to see such a downswing like that for any player. Keep pushing your way through, and you are bound to find your self back in positive territory.

  • I will keep on keeping on, but you don't move very quickly when someone kicks you in the nuts every three paces.

    1, 2, 3, KICK! 1, 2, 3, KICK!

  • Dude...that really sucks, try spades for awhile or partygammon. best advice...Take a break

  • Pirate, I would take a break if it was affecting my play. The fact is, I keep making great decisions and coming out with a bloody nose. If I were to start tilting when that happened, then, yes, I would take a break. But I think playing through this is the best way to beat it, knowing that I am currently playing well.

  • Hang in there from someone who's been there. Alot. Let me know if you want an extra pair of eyes to look over your data.

  • True Matt True....Did not mean to offend my man, good luck buddy and I enjoy your posts

  • CC, thanks for the offer. I will let you know if I think I need another set of eyes. But when you're getting it all in as a 80%-90% favorite, how can you possibly be doing anything wrong?

Pirate, no offense taken, merely offering further explanation of my situation. Thanks for reading!

  • You'll pull through my man, we always do. Eventually. The trick is just being able to withstand the downturn, and doing what you can to limit your losses while on the downswing. Remember earlier this year when I got bad beat out of 15 or 16 consecutive nlh tourneys on pokerstars over a 3-week period? If I could survive that and go on to bigger and better things just a couple of months later, then we both know you can too. Just keep on not tilting and making the right decisions, and eventually the luck will even out.

Let me know if you want to do an sng or something one of these nights. I'm usually on stars and ftp, and often party as well, around 10pm ET and after.

    Best of luck bro.
